Aguilar to serve as acting principal at McCulloch

Rianne Aguilar will be taking the lead at McCulloch Junior High School as acting principal, effective immediately.

In her nearly one and a half years as curriculum director for Marion Community Schools, Aguilar has been instrumental in the Next Gen School Improvement Grant for McCulloch Junior High, and has been directly involved in its implementation. This grant presents great opportunities for students and educators at McCulloch, and Aguilar will partner with the McCulloch team to fully execute these plans.

Prior to her district role, Aguilar was principal at Frances Slocum Elementary School for five years. She is known for caring leadership, and for implementing instructional strategies that work for students. Her approach of building a customized learning environment for students through a team approach with faculty, staff, and parents has been a hallmark of her success.

Aguilar started at Marion Community Schools in 2013 as a special education teacher at Allen Elementary School. She joined Frances Slocum Elementary as Assistant Principal in 2018, and then moved up into the role of Principal in 2020. She has been Curriculum Director since 2025.

She will retain her Curriculum Director title with the district, and her role as acting principal is planned to be temporary. The previous MJH principal, James Bell, is retiring, and Marion Community Schools will be accepting applications for the position.

“We are committed to high standards and Giant opportunities at McCulloch Junior High School,” said Dr. Stephanie Lockwood, Superintendent of Marion Community Schools. “We will be looking for the next leader to help us continue to grow.”
