MCS works with local law enforcement on community safety issues

On Oct. 6, Marion Police Department was investigating a report of suspicious activity in the area around McCulloch Junior High School. Though there was no direct threat against the school, MPD requested that the school take precautions. In response, we asked classes that were outside to return inside, and we altered our schedule briefly until we heard from police that the situation was under control. Our regular schedule was affected for about 20 minutes.

We want you to know that MCS administrators work closely with local law enforcement in any such situation. We are committed to a safe and healthy learning environment and would not put students or staff into a situation we believed to be unsafe. Officials have stated there is no ongoing danger connected to the situation.
