News Blog Category - News Two McCulloch Junior High School choir students recently stood in a spotlight no other McCulloch students have before: They performed with the Indiana All-State Middle School Honor Choir.

Amonte King and Alyssa Dellinger, both eighth-graders at McCulloch, performed with the choir during the Indiana Music Education Association’s annual conference last month. They were among about 140 students chosen for the All-State Middle School Honor Choir, and they spent two intensive days with other young musicians practicing for the performance, which was hosted by the Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne.

Young musicians at schools that participate in the IMEA’s annual Circle the State with Song festival — which McCulloch has done for years — have the opportunity to audition for the All-State Middle School Honor Choir (and for the All-State Children’s Choir, at younger grade levels).

McCulloch choir teacher Christina Huff said the audition process for the Honor Choir is very difficult. She recorded 10 auditions, and she sent in eight — the maximum allowed. Out of those, Amonte’s and Alyssa’s auditions earned them spots in this year’s Honor Choir, and McCulloch is proud to have been represented at this prestigious event!
